I started writing this blog as a way of better understanding some of the profound changes that are taking place around us. From the election of Barack Obama to the financial crisis to the technological and communications revolution, it is obvious to many that we are in the midst of major societal changes. I wanted to place these changes in a clearer context. This context can help individuals, businesses and institutions predict and adapt to the future.
The new society is based on a bottom-up organizational structure where much of commerce, communications, advertising, media, and political energy arises from hyper-empowered individuals and networks, as opposed to centrally-controlled bureaucracies. This bottom-up structure results in an economy, media structure and political structure which is more sustainable, personalized, networked, and authentic (SPAN) than ever before. - Josh Skolnick
